Child Safety Standards

The following are prohibited without exception, in questions, comments and images:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind.
• Sexualisation of a minor — including text, imagery, or framing that presents anyone under 18 in a sexual manner.
• Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to contact, lure or arrange to meet a minor.
• Sextortion, or trading, requesting or advertising CSAE material.
• Content that normalises, trivialises, endorses or seeks approval for the sexual abuse or exploitation of children.

This is not a moderation preference. A poll that seeks approval for any of the above is not a legitimate civic question and is refused publication outright.

Adults only. Public Poll is intended for people aged 18 and over. It concerns civic and electoral matters, is not directed at children, and is not listed for children on any app store. Voting and publishing additionally require a verified account and an identity step.

Every question is screened before publication. Nothing a citizen writes appears publicly until it passes the Question Integrity Engine (QIE), an automated safety gate. Child-safety risk is one of its hard-block categories: where the classifier reports any material child-safety risk, the decision is BLOCK and no version of the question can be published — the citizen cannot override it, and there is no path that routes around the gate.

Images are constrained. Uploaded images are limited in number, size and format, are attributable to a verified account, and can be reported by any reader for removal.

No private messaging. Public Poll has no direct messages, no private chat and no friend system. All discussion is public and attributable, which removes the private channel that grooming depends on.

In the app. Every question and every comment carries a Report control. Choosing “Child safety concern” marks the report urgent and places it at the front of the moderation queue. Reporting does not require an account.

By email. Write to support@publicpoll.in. This mailbox is monitored and is our designated point of contact for CSAE matters.

Do not forward the material itself. Send a link or a description. Forwarding CSAE material is itself an offence.

• Child-safety reports are prioritised above all other moderation work.
• Content assessed as CSAE is removed from public view, and the account that posted it is suspended.
• Evidence is preserved for the authorities rather than destroyed, even where the content is removed from public view.
• Confirmed CSAE is reported to the relevant Indian authorities, including the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) and, where applicable, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, consistent with the POCSO Act 2012 and the IT Act 2000 and rules made under it.
• We cooperate with lawful requests from Indian law-enforcement agencies.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police on 112 first. Reporting to us is not a substitute for reporting to the authorities.
