Public Poll · operated by Credora Technologies OPC Pvt Ltd · Last updated 10 August 2026
Public Poll is a civic participation platform for India. You can ask questions about public services and governance, and vote on questions asked by other citizens. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who processes it, and how you can get it deleted. It applies to the Public Poll mobile app (com.credora.publicpoll) and to publicpoll.in.
1. What we collect
| Email address | Creating your account and sending your one-time sign-in code. |
| Phone number (optional) | An alternative way to receive your sign-in code. |
| Display name | Shown next to your questions and comments. If you don't provide one we generate a sequential name such as “Citizen #01”, so your email or phone is never exposed publicly. |
| Aadhaar — last 4 digits only | Proof that one account belongs to one citizen. We never store your full Aadhaar number — only the last four digits are retained. Aadhaar verification is carried out by a licensed KYC provider once that integration is live; until then the identity step is not checked against UIDAI records. |
| Date of birth | Received during identity verification and used only to derive an age band (for example 26–35) for aggregate reporting. |
| Location — state, district, city, ward, constituency, PIN code | Entered by you, so questions and results can be grouped by area. We do NOT collect GPS or precise device location, and the app requests no location permission. |
| Profession | Aggregate reporting only — for example how different occupations responded to a question. |
| Your activity | The questions you ask, the votes you cast, and the comments you post. |
Microphone. If you use voice input to dictate a question, speech is converted to text by your device or browser's own speech service. We do not record, store or transmit audio.
We do not collect contacts, photos, files, messages, financial information, health information, or an advertising identifier. The app contains no advertising.
2. How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and to verify that one citizen holds one vote.
- To publish your questions and comments, which are public by design.
- To analyse submitted questions for safety and neutrality before publication, and to generate the explanatory card shown alongside a published question.
- To produce aggregate statistics — by ward, district, profession and age band. These describe groups, never individuals, and are never published in a form that identifies you.
- To notify you about activity relevant to your area.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling unrelated to the service.
3. What is public
Your display name, your questions and your comments are visible to other users. Your individual votes are not shown publicly next to your name — votes appear only in aggregate totals and group breakdowns.
4. Who else processes your data
We use these service providers, strictly to deliver the service:
| Identity verification (KYC) provider | Verifying Aadhaar and returning your date of birth. Sandbox.co.in / Surepass, once the subscription is active. No Aadhaar data leaves Public Poll while that integration is inactive. |
| 2Factor.in | Delivering sign-in codes by SMS. |
| Brevo | Delivering sign-in codes by email. |
| Anthropic and OpenAI | Analysing question text for safety, neutrality and constitutional context, and translating questions between languages. Question text is sent; your identity is not. |
| Google Analytics | Website traffic measurement on publicpoll.in only. Not used inside the mobile app. |
These are processors acting on our instructions. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own purposes. We may disclose data where required by Indian law.
5. How we protect it
All traffic is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Directly identifying fields — your name, email, phone number and PIN code — are additionally encrypted at rest in our database. Your full Aadhaar number is never written to storage.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal details are erased or anonymised immediately and your sessions are revoked.
Questions, comments and votes you have already contributed remain, detached from your identity — removing them would silently alter published results that other citizens have seen and relied upon.
7. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, and complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
- Delete your account — in the app, open Profile → Delete Account. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
- Or request deletion by email — write to the address below from your registered email address and we will action it within 30 days.
- Correct your details — edit them in Profile at any time.
8. Children
Public Poll is intended for adults aged 18 and over, since it concerns civic and electoral participation. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
9. Independence
Public Poll is an independent civic platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of India, UIDAI, or any state government. A poll on this platform measures public opinion — it does not create law, determine guilt, transfer public property, or substitute for an election or a court.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for material changes we will notify you in the app.
